Battle of Stalingrad
The Battle of Stalingrad is a major battle that lasted from the July 17, 1942 to February 2, 1943. It fought between the Soviet Union and Germany for the control of the city of Stalingrad, now named Volgograd. It began when Germany bombed Stalingrad. Thousands died in the bombings, but the Soviet military held strong. The Nazi Army weakened as the winter approached. They were not only cold and starving, but they were also running out of ammunition. By November 1942, the Soviet Army had surrounded the Germans inside the city. Because the they were trapped and badly supplied, Germany surrendered on the 2nd of February, 1943. The battle ended with nearly two million casualties. It's considered a major turning point the war.
Invasion of Normandy
The Invasion of Normandy, code-named Operation Overlord, began on June 6, 1944, also known as D-Day, and lasted until August 25, 1944. It was the liberation of Western Europe by the Allied forces. When the battle began, the Allied Forces stormed the beaches on the coast of France's Normandy area. By the 11th, the beached were secured and more than 326,000 troops, over 50,000 vehicles, and about 100,000 tons of equipment had arrived in Normandy. In the weeks that followed, the Allied troops proceeded to fight there way through Western Europe, freeing it of Germany's control.

Battle of Britain
The Battle of Britain was the the battle fought between the Luftwaffe, or the German Air Force, and the Royal Air Force of Great Britain. It was the first major battle to take place entirely in the air. It was fought in the skies of Southern England. At first, it seemed like the battle was going in Germany's favor, but eventually things turned around and Great Britain got the upper hand and eventually won the battle. This battle was considered a major turning point in the war.
