The Home-Front
Back on the home-front, people were dealing with things like night raids, bombings, rationing, evacuations, and food shortages.. While going through the war, the people at home had to be brave and stick it out while also trying to stay safe and provide for there family. The people on the home-front had to develop a new mentality on the war to get through it.
The Effect on children
The lives of children changed drastically during WWII. Nearly two million children were evacuated from there homes by a train to the countryside to escape bombing in major cities. Some children were sent to live with relatives in the countryside and some with complete strangers. They were scared about leaving their family and not knowing whether they were going to be separated from the siblings.

The effect on school
Schools were shut in areas that children were evacuated from. The schools in the countryside were small and most of the lessons remain the same. But because of the constant fear of an attack, schools had air-raid and bombing drill in addition to providing the children with lessons on how to put on a gas mask properly. There were even Mickey Mouse gas masks for children.
